New content added to IRMER programme

The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) and Health Education England e-Learning for Healthcare (HEE e-LfH) have added a further module to the e-learning programme for NHS healthcare professionals on Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R).

The new module that has recently been added to the programme focuses on the application of ionising radiations in nuclear medicine.

The free new e-learning module includes the following topics:

  •          Image Acquisition, Storage and Display: Gamma Cameras
  •          Quality Assurance and Quality Control
  •          Working Practices in the Radiopharmacy
  •          Radiation Protection in Pregnancy and Breast-feeding in Nuclear Medicine
  •          Radiation Protection in Radionuclide Therapy
  •          Working Safely with Radioactive Materials
  •          Disposal Procedures for Radioactive Waste
