RAISE

RAISE (Raising Awareness at Induction in common Sources of Error) is a near peer teaching programme for new foundation doctors. The aim of RAISE is to increase awareness of common sources of error and to educate new doctors about these to improve patient safety.

The session in induction covers anticoagulation, anaemia and transfusion, diabetes and insulin, falls, nasogastric tubes, palliative care and sepsis. The content focuses on 3 key points for each topic consolidated by clinical cases.

RAISE has run in the West Midlands for the last 4 years and has expanded year on year. The programme improves knowledge, by up to 51%, and confidence by new foundation doctors. New doctors find the programme relevant and would recommend it to their peers.
