West Midlands Network for General Paediatric Surgery (WMGPS)

West Midlands Network for General Paediatric Surgery (WMGPS) brings together General Paediatric Surgery (GPS)  clinicians from 14 West Midlands hospital trusts to achieve the following objectives:

  • Develop and support common standards of care for GPS across the region
  • Drive best practice guidelines for the management of common conditions
  • Provide consistent, up to date parent/patient information
  • Ensure that all GPS providers, patients/families have a voice
  • Improve communication and collaborative working across the network
  • Create opportunities for like-minded clinicians to interact
  • Provide regular continuous professional development (CPD) activity for GPS providers
  • Help define training in GPS across the region
  • Provide an online resource to facilitate and support all GPS network activity
  • Underpin governance and professional revalidation related to GPS

The network runs two clinical forums per year, the content of which will be increasingly geared toward surgical trainees.  The network is keen to support workforce development in the GPS specialty.  The WMGPS'  website is a resource for clinicians, trainees and patients/families.
