Safeguarding adults

To live a life free from abuse and harm is a basic human right. We are all responsible for the protection of vulnerable people from harm. It's everybody's business. Vulnerable adults rely on us to take the right steps to help keep them safe. If we don't, who will? To ignore abuse and neglect is to allow it to continue and that is never acceptable.

  • Safeguarding is everyone's business
  • Safeguarding is your business
  • It starts with you

This online learning resource is an introduction to the requirements and responsibilities for Safeguarding Adults.

Part A is intended for all staff working within the NHS.

Part B is intended for clinicians and non-clinicians in a management or supervisory role.

Both Parts A and B are open to the general public, patients groups and staff who have responsibility for vulnerable people, or adults who may be at risk of abuse.

This work was commissioned by Workforce Development Directorate NHS South of England and delivered by e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) in collaboration with a consortium of professional bodies.

The e-learning resource has been written and developed by a team of editors and authors drawn from a multi-professional stakeholder group. All content has been written to reflect the latest evidence-based policy.
