Posters: Don't be surprised if we ask

In the right-hand panel, you will find downloadable posts for the Making Every Contact Count "It's OK to ask" campaign.

Led by MECC and communications specialists, the “It’s OK to ask” campaign has been developed using the findings of our insight work into patient and staff attitudes on the appropriateness of receiving and delivering healthy lifestyle advice. (Download the slides on the Making Every Contact Count Insight into patient and staff attitudes to receivng and delivering healthy lifestyle advice.)

The resulting public-facing poster campaign enables you to make the public, patients, carers and visitors aware that your organisation is delivering MECC.

The poster designs were developed through testing with a readers’ panel of patients, to ensure that they were both appealing and understood by patients. The final designs proved popular with the entire group, who liked both the message and design.

Patients told us that the posters gave a clear message that “we should not feel embarrassed to ask about any of these issues” and that they welcomed this “softer approach”. One patient commented “they are inviting me to go 'off topic' with my GP or consultant, take the initiative and open up about lifestyle choices”.

There are two series in the overall campaign:

  • It’s OK to ask - to give patients and the public “permission” to raise lifestyle issues that may be concerning them. These can be found in the Posters: It's OK to ask campaign.
  • Don’t be surprised if we ask - to let patients and public know that lifestyle issues may be raised. These can be found on the right panel of this page.

The posters link to the high visibility yellow “It’s OK to ask” lanyards, which can be worn by MECC trained staff.  All posters can be downloaded below in five versions:

  • Final artwork (with printers marks for professional printing if required) with lanyard. These have a PDF symbol beside them.
  • Final artwork (with printers marks for professional printing if required) without lanyard. These have a PDF symbol beside them.

All separate brand elements are also available as individual files should organisations wish to design their own materials. Please also consult the Making Every Contact Count Brand Guidelines when doing this.
